Kirsten Peters, Editor-in-Chief
Kirsten Peters is a senior communication studies major with concentrations in multimedia journalism, broadcast production and strategic communication, along with minors in sports management and creative writing.
Peters is the current editor-in-chief of The Beacon for the 2020-2021 academic year. She joined the newspaper as a sports staff writer in Fall 2017 before earning a co-sports editor position alongside Ben Mandell ’20 from Fall 2018 to Spring 2020.
Peters holds multiple leadership positions on campus. In addition to being the editor-in-chief of The Beacon, Peters is the director of Wilkes’ student-run television program, Wilkes Now! Previously, she held the sports director position during her junior year. She joined Wilkes Now! as a sports anchor during her first year on campus.
Most recently, Peters acquired a role at the Allan P. Kirby Center for Free Enterprise and Entrepreneurship in advance of her senior year. She acts as the Kirby Scholar of Communication alongside fellow scholar Sara Ross, where the two manage the center’s social media presence and provide services to both internal and external clients.
Peters has a love for sports, as she began as the Wilkes University Baseball intern in 2017 by keeping the scorebook and being the team photographer. She added baseball social media director to her list of credentials in 2018.
