WILKES-BARRE, Pa. — The Wilkes University Colonels improved to 3-0 with a 74-65 win over Penn State Wilkes-Barre.

The Colonels came into this game winners of their first two games over Penn State Hazleton last Tuesday and Elizabethtown on Saturday.

Rob Pecorelli came into tonight’s matchup as the Colonels leading scorer with 36 points on the season.

The game started off well for the Colonels as they jumped out to a 10-2 lead early in the game and continued to have success as they carried a 44-33 lead at halftime.

The second half started with a surprising surge from the Nittany Lions as they outscored the Colonels 10-2 to start the half and even cut the lead to just one around fifteen minute mark of the second half.

The Colonels were able to grab some breathing room thanks to double digit point efforts from junior guard Marcus Robinson (19), Rob Pecorelli (16), and Zach Brunner (10). Robinson also added eight rebounds, a steal, and an assist on the night.

After around eight minutes passed, the Colonels consistently lead by five or seven points before pulling away in the game’s final minutes. Even with the Nittany Lions hanging around in this one, they never were able to grab the lead in this one.

The Colonels came away with the win in this one but will look to improve as they cannot afford to let bad teams hang around with them this season.

The Colonels will have a chance to move on from this game as they head to Scranton, Pa. on Saturday for the Cross County Challenge. The Colonels will play Marywood University and the University of Scranton as they look to remain perfect.
