AOTW: Nicolette Towlen, junior soccer player
Why Nicolette Towlen was selected: Junior Nicolette Towlen played a huge role in the double overtime Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom semi-final. She scored the game-winning goal, breaking a combined time of over 200 minutes of scoreless soccer between Wilkes and Eastern, dating back to their 2016 match-up.
What head coach John Sumoski said: “Nikki stays on the field for us because she makes something out of nothing, all the time. She’s our engine and one of our hardest workers.”

Driving force for your decision to come to Wilkes?
I really liked the team chemistry and the team culture.
Post graduation plans in terms of a career?
I hope to go to graduate school in hopes to work as a sports psychologist.
Favorite building on campus?
I like the atmosphere in UCOM, whether you need a quiet study room or a busy coffee shop UCOM has it all.

What came first? The chicken or the egg?
The egg.
Hopes for this season as a Colonel?
Well I hoped we would win the MAC but since we are past that I hope to make an impact in the NCAA tournament and show everyone that we deserve to be there and we worked hard to get there.
When/Why did you first begin playing? The first time I played I was four in an indoor league and I scored my first goal on my own team.
If you had to choose one thing about your program that you could improve, what would it be?
Our program itself I am very happy with I think one thing that could be improved is student participation, we could really (use) more fans out there.

What does “Be Colonel” mean to you?
It means being apart of an entire organization, representing not only yourself but every other colonel as well.

Dr. Bohlander and Dr. Lee, they have been big supporters this season.
