After going their separate ways after high school, Wilson Area graduates Ryan Dailey and Zach Bogoly have been reunited and are playing the game they have loved since they were 6 years old.

Bogoly transferred to Wilkes after playing for East Stroudsburg, a Division II school located an hour east of Wilkes.

“I really wasn’t happy at ESU,” said Bogoly about why he transferred to Wilkes. “I wanted to play football here and the business school is well known”.

During his senior year of high school he chose East Stroudsburg over Wilkes and Millersville.

The former PIAA Class AA all-state selection put up monster numbers his senior year of High School. Bogoly and Dailey connected for 67 passes for 1,292 yards and 14 touchdowns. Now Dailey and Bogoly are looking to do the same thing they have done in years past.

When Bogoly first arrived to Wilkes he wasn’t getting the playing time he expected to get. Now he is starting at receiver for the Colonels.

“I trust him as a quarterback, he trusts me as a receiver,” said Bogoly, describing his lifelong friend Ryan Dailey.

Dailey is also happy to have Bogoly back on the field with him.

“It’s an awesome feeling. We never thought that we would be on the same field with each other again after high school; now, being back on the field with him just reminds me of doing it our whole life. Especially since he’s my best friend and we grew up together, it is cool to still be playing with him.”

Bogoly is only a sophomore, as he redshirted his freshman year at East Stroudsburg. Going into the game against Kings, Bogoly caught 13 receptions for 182 yards in the five games he has played in. 

“I just know I can contribute to this team a lot, I play for the team, not myself” said Bogoly.

Dailey described Bogoly as “a receiver that plays hard every play. He will go up for the ball when he has to.” The 6 foot 2 inch receiver put up his best game of the season against Misericordia, where he hauled in 5 receptions for 94 yards including a 47 yard reception to help set up a touchdown to Garret Armstrong that would follow a few plays later.

In his free time Bogoly likes to relax playing video games.

One day, Bogoly, hopes to design his own tattoos as he likes to draw in his spare time. He currently has eight tattoos across his body. He received his first tattoo at the age of 16, once his parents gave their permission.

One of his favorite quotes is tattooed on the left side of his chest: “Yesterday is history, today is a gift, and tomorrow is a mystery.”

“You never know when your last snap could be,” said Bogoly talking about career ending injuries and the reasoning behind getting the tattoo.

Until then Bogoly plans to make his presence known on the field for the rest of his time here at Wilkes.
