Wilkes baseball participates in its first annual Halloween game
The Colonels were back out on the field Oct. 30 in their first annual Halloween game. Eighteen Colonels laced up in what they called a friendly exhibition game.
Players dressed up in their Halloween costumes and fielded positions they normally wouldn’t play. Pitcher Marcus Leaf participated in the game; however, he was out in centerfield for the game.
Leaf like other players found the game to be a success.
“Everyone came out to have a good time, it was a great chance to take a break from working hard from the fall season, “said Leaf. “It was basically like a reward for working hard during fall ball.”
Junior George Sidiropoulos found the game to be a great experience.
“it was exciting to be able to be the first Wilkes team in history to go out on the field for a Halloween game,” said Sidiropoulos.
He later hopes that “this could be the start of a tradition for years to come.”
Sidiropoulos was out on the field in his 80’s aerobics outfit looking like Richard Simmons out on the field.
Junior Johnny Jan found the game to also to be a great time.
“I thought it was awesome, a great way to end the fall season. It is always fun seeing all the costumes and everyone letting loose one last time in the fall. You see a lot more teams doing this and I would love to make this an annual thing,” said Jan.
With all in the spirit of Halloween fun, Team Leaf would go on to defeat Team Kramer 10-6.
