Halloween is approaching and the candy season is beginning.
Student Development is hosting Departmental Trick or Treating 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 29 in the Henry Student Center Lounge. Students will be given a treasure map and will go around to the departments on campus and receive candy.
Each department will stamp the treasure map and receive candy from each department. The more departments students visit, the bigger prize students can receive.
“The main point of Departmental Trick or Treating is for students to get to know the departments and to know what is available to them,” Kayla Cauthon, Student Development activities assistant who is in charge of the event, said.
Jessica Short, a graduate student, is helping Cauthon. She said students meet at the SUB lounge to get a map of participating departments then go to each department in search of treats.
“I think that departmental trick or treating will benefit students because not all students may know where each department on campus is located,” Short said. “This will give students a chance to meet the faculty and staff they might not have the chance to meet.”
The prizes that students have the chance to win are gift cards, bowling passes and movie passes. The event is open to all Wilkes students, and costumes are not required for this event.
Student Development holds SD Tuesdays every Tuesday during club hours. An open rock wall is offered 7-9 p.m. Mondays and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays in the UCOM gym. It also hosts Sunday Night Football 7:30 p.m. in the ballroom.
